Paralegal - Pennsylvania

Yorkway Law Group seeks a Paralegal with at least two years of experience in Trust and Estates to join its Feasterville office.

Yorkway Law Group was founded over 40 years ago, and provides elder law, estate planning, and estate and trust administration services. Our compassionate, caring, and experienced attorneys and staff help seniors and their families navigate the difficult and complex legal landscape that comes with planning for their future needs.

Candidates must have good attention to detail, be motivated to learn and improve, and be willing and able to take initiative and to work independently. Candidates must be able to excel in a team environment, have excellent communication skills, and be eager to collaborate and work with a team to accomplish goals. Candidates must be comfortable with technology.

Job duties include:

  • Preparing probate petitions and all required documentation for filing with the Court;
  • Gathering details relating to decedent’s assets, preparing and file inventory of assets;
  • Communicating with fiduciaries and beneficiaries to outline administrative procedures;
  • Drafting correspondence to clients regarding estate matters;
  • Directly responding to and resolving client issues;
  • Preparing federal estate tax returns, state estate tax returns and state inheritance tax returns;
  • Preparing and reviewing various legal documents including receipt and release agreements, and acceptance documents; and
  • Coordinating transfer and distribution of assets.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years of experience with probate, estate administration process, and trust and estates law;
  • Solid experience with The Lackner Group 6-in-1 estate administration software;
  • Exceptional analytical, research, written, oral and organizational skills;
  • Ability to meet deadlines consistently;
  • Experience interacting with clients, courts, and multiple companies;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and accounting and tax preparation software;
  • Working knowledge of probate and administration proceedings and procedures in PA;
  • Independent, professional candidate with the adaptability to adapt to a fast-paced environment, and juggle multiple priorities;
  • Familiarity with federal and state rules of procedure;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • The ability to work an eight-hour day (in-person), Monday through Friday, and
  • Bachelor’s degree a plus, but not required; Paralegal Certification required.

Receptionist/Administration Assistant

Yorkway Law Group seeks a Receptionist/Administration Assistant with at least one year of experience to join its Feasterville office.

Yorkway Law Group was founded over 40 years ago, and provides elder law, estate planning, and estate and trust administration services. Our compassionate, caring, and experienced attorneys and staff help seniors and their families navigate the difficult and complex legal landscape that comes with planning for their future needs.

Primary responsibilities include opening and closing the office; opening and sorting mail, greeting visitors, answering and transferring incoming calls, prioritizing and following up with clients, scheduling appointments for attorneys, typing correspondence and other documents, and special projects as directed by Office Manager. Candidates should be comfortable handling phones, greeting clients, keeping attorneys’ calendars, and client billings. Candidate must be proficient in MS office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and have at least one year’s experience as an administrative assistant, preferably in a law firm, legal department, or other professional services office. Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills are a must. Candidate must be able to work with minimal guidance to prioritize and handle multiple, concurrent tasks with a strong attention to detail.

Legal Assistant/Receptionist - Media, PA

Part-time or full-time

Part time starting at $18/hr depending on experience

Law office experience is preferred!

Qualifications

Applicant must be able to answer phones, schedule and manage hearings and appointments for the attorney and handle collection of fees. Knowledge of drafting basic petitions, motions, decrees and orders as well as drafting discovery and discovery responses using templates would be a plus, but not a requirement if Applicant is motivated to learn these skills. Excellent telephone demeanor is a must. Applicant should know something about legal billing or case management software. Prior experience working at a courthouse or legal setting is considered a plus.

  • Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Education and Experience:
  • Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or related field preferred.
  • Paralegal certificate preferred.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Draft, edit, proofread, and/or file correspondence, court documents, agreements.
  • Assist in coordinating internal and external meetings/communications.
  • Coordinate with attorneys daily/manage running list of projects/status, needs and priorities.
  • Document management and organization.
  • Meets with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
  • Drafts legal documents including routine pleadings and motions, affidavits, and interrogatories; files motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures. (templates used)
  • Communicate with clients and witnesses and prepares summaries of their statements.
  • Prepare, organize, store, and retrieve case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, exhibits, and other items.
  • Assist attorneys with hearing/trial preparation.
  • Develop and maintain records regarding billable hours spent on specific cases.
  • Answer calls and scheduling consultations, hearings, depositions, mediations etc.
  • Collects payments from clients and keep track of the billing.
  • Orders supplies for the office
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
